Timex Sinclair 1000

In July 1982 the Timex Sinclair 1000 was a break into the US by UK based company Sinclair Research Ltd. The Sinclair 1000 was originally the ZX-81 that was released in Great Britain in 1981. The Timex Sinclair 1000 retailed for $99.99 USD. Upon release, the Sinclair 1000 came only with 2K of RAM, but soon the 1076 RAM expansion was available which explanded the RAM by 16K. There were a variety of budget management and other "helpful" software released.

The software for the Sinclair was contained on cassette tapes and played with the Sinclair 1000 by a cassette drive.
