Mattel started production on a series of LED handheld systems in 1976 and were supposedly the first to start making handheld systems. Their first two ideas for the units were Auto Racing and Football. Auto Racing was found to be the top choice and thus released first. Others to follow were: Football, Basketball, Hockey, and Baseball. They have just re-released the Football game in a full handheld and a keychain one. Mattel also still makes games for such platforms such as Gameboy, Playstation, and PC under their Mattel Media. One of the most popular titles is Barbie.
